In October, Water Into Wine Food Pantry, served 164 senior citizen families. Due to the death of Sister Linda Rowe, the food pantry was closed on Wednesday. Following inventory of food on stock, it was decided to cancel distribution for October due to the low amount in inventory.
Each year, we often find that in the summers, food becomes plentiful. Much of this is due to the increased production of the season. We are often gifted loads of watermelon, fruits and vegetables, and other foods because retail stores can not sell these items due to the small farms which are in production. We are now at the end of harvest season. The United States has suffered at least three disasters with the hurricanes and wildfires. Many supplies have been rerouted to these sites. This has left the food market low for local food pantries. Donated foods are low, and even the items that are usually available for purchase are now not available. We ask that you be patient as we explore new innovative ways to increase food distribution to Magoffin County. November pantry dates have been set at Nov. 14th & 15th. We seek your prayers as we continue to strive to help in the name of Jesus.
