Beginning on Monday, January the 29th-- full blown construction will begin on the physical facility of the Water Into Wine Food Pantry. Engineers will be working on several phases of a project that will open a portion of the Lakefront Church of God facility to a new pantry experience. Over the next several weeks, construction workers will work on new loading and unloading dock on the North end of the building. These new dock will serve as both tractor and trailer and flatbed trailer deliveries to the pantry. It will also allow the usage of a forklift to handle inbound food. This will help alleviate the need to large number of volunteers to manually unload supplies. The interior of the building will also be modified to help accommodate forklift and pallet jack equipment. Food will be stored in the back of the new pantry, while a new "shopping" area will serve our clients in the front of the building. In this area, clients will be able to make a trip once a month to the pantry and walk around and pick the items that their families will utilize up and bag them and checkout. In this design, we will be able to increase several products that we have went without for a while such as dairy when it is available. Although we remain in the planning stages of this expansion, we ask you to stay tuned for future developments as we work to make the pantry more accessible to Magoffin County.

The Bible tells us in I Corinthians 13:13- now abiditeh faith, hope, and charity, these three; but the greatest of these three is charity. On Friday, February 9th - Lakefront Church of God will host a special night. Beginning at 5PM with the showing of the movie: An Uncommon Grace. Following her tour of duty, army nurse Grace Conner (Macallan) returns to her grandmother’s (McGillis) farm in Ohio’s Amish country, and answers a neighbor’s call for medical assistance following a mysterious intrusion and shooting at his family’s nearby farm. Soon, Grace, who is not Amish, and Levi Troyer (Faris) develop a deep connection that is more than simply neighborly, and must sort out their forbidden relationship while Grace follows clues that ultimately lead her to the killer. Stars Jes Macallan, Sean Faris and Kelly McGillis. Following the conclusion of the first movie. We will break and go into they dinning area where we will serve a taco bar from 7PM-8PM. All the fixens for a taco that you will love. At 8PM the feature movie of the night will play: SAME KIND OF DIFFERENT AS ME. From the New York Times bestseller comes an inspirational true story that “embraces the beauty of the human spirit”.1 Successful art dealer Ron Hall (Academy Award® nominee GREG KINNEAR*) and his wife Debbie (Academy Award® winner RENÉE ZELLWEGER**) seemingly have the perfect life. But when their faith and family are tested, an unlikely bond with a homeless drifter (Academy Award® nominee DJIMON HOUNSOU†) leads them on a remarkable journey that forges an everlasting friendship. Hailed by critics as “powerful and inspiring”,2 Same Kind of Different As Me shows how a simple act of kindness can change everything. There is no cost for this event. Come on out for a great evening. Feel the love, its the greatest of these three things. We would like to generate some community giving to the Water Into Wine Food Pantry. This spring, we will be sponsoring a community food drive for civic and business groups. We will do the training for you and your group to effectively collect foods for the pantry. If we have enough folks signed up, we will utilize this as a contest. If you or your group is interested in participating in this food drive in May, please contact us at 606-349-6301 to register. We will send out a date for the training.
Water Into Wine Food Pantry to Serve Magoffin County Residents Once Served by Bread of Life.1/17/2018 ".For the last five years, the Bread of Life Food Bank has helped bare the burden of those in need of food in the Magoffin County area. The location of the Bread of Life was located in Oil Springs, and served several Magoffin County families in that area.
The Bread of Life was God's calling for Sister Barb Lemasters. She loved serving those in need. Sister Barb suffered a major heart attack a few months ago, and was never able to recover from the damage done to her heart. Sister Barb went to be with the Lord in early January. Since passing, many speculated as to what would happen to the Bread of Life Food Pantry. Some thought maybe others would take it over, but in a heartfelt post on Face Book the future of The Bread of Life was announced: "Today was to closing day for Bread of Life Outreach Post, Inc. located in the old Oil Springs School due to the death of the founder, leader and director Barbara Howard Lemaster. God gave her a vision to feed and minister to the people in this area and she carried that vision with excellence. While we will not officially distribute food on a monthly basis, we will be open a couple more days to distribute what has been made ready. I will post on Facebook when we will be open again for our clients who have not been able to come in due to weather. Although at this time, we are not aware as to the number of clients that will make the switch to the Water Into Wine Food Pantry, we are preparing for a substantial increase in food distribution. Several changes are currently being implemented at the Water Into Wine Food Pantry that will help serve those in need in Magoffin County. Those residents of Johnson County who depended upon the services of The Bread of Life, will be served by the 3 other food pantries located in Johnson County. All Bread of Life clients from the Magoffin County area, we welcome you to our give away on 1/24/18 for clients who are under 62- from the hours of 8:30 to 3PM. If you are a senior, you may pick your items up on the 23rd from 8:30AM-12PM. We will honor your cards until you can be issued a new electronic card. Barbara Jean Howard Lemaster age 64 of Oil Springs, Kentucky passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Kentucky. Sister Barb's ministry fed hundreds of families in Magoffin and Johnson counties through the Bread of Life ministry. No official press release has been given for the future of the ministry. Should the ministry close, Water into Wine Food Pantry would pick up and serve the Magoffin County residents that relied on the ministry, while Johnson County food banks in the Paintsville area would pick up Johnson County residents. |
